Arcana is Acquired by Avail: Building Towards Multichain Scalability

Our Journey

Founded in 2021, Arcana began by tackling key friction points for both developers and users. For developers, we built Arcana Auth and Gasless, helping 100+ customers onboard users seamlessly and powering over 5M wallets to date. For users, we launched SendIt, an app that brought simple crypto transfers to over 500K users with 5M+ transactions.

But that was just the beginning. As Web3 evolved, so did its complexity. The proliferation of chains, wallets, and bridges created a fragmented ecosystem that made user experiences anything but simple. Developers struggled with integrations, and users were left facing endless decisions about chains, gas, and liquidity.

We knew the answer was abstraction.

The Road to Chain Abstraction

In 2024, we launched the Arcana Chain Abstraction SDK and Arcana Wallet — our biggest step yet towards simplifying multichain experiences.

With the launch of our public testnet, Arcana quickly grew to become one of the leading projects pushing chain abstraction forward. Developers and users rallied around the idea of a bridgeless, unified Web3, and Arcana was proud to deliver that vision.

Why Avail?

The decision to move forward with the acquisition was not sudden. Nearly two years ago, when our founders first connected, it became clear that both teams were driven by a common vision and guided by the same set of values and culture.

Both Arcana and Avail were obsessed with solving the same problem: fragmentation.
Both believed in the same outcome: seamless, bridgeless, multichain experiences.

In fact, Arcana had already been planning a strategic product integration with Avail DA in 2024. Our teams worked closely, building in fellowship, and the more we collaborated, the clearer it became: we weren’t just aligned, we were building towards the same end goal.

What This Means for Developers & Community

Arcana’s Chain Abstraction SDK and Wallet will now become a core part of Avail Nexus, bringing everything our community loved about Arcana, and more:

Arcana’s proven infrastructure and core team will now fully embed in Avail. With Arcana’s chain abstraction, wallet, auth, and MPC frameworks added to the Avail Stack — and Avail’s proven expertise in scalability and modular infra — the stage is set for applications to scale seamlessly across chains.

Now, Avail Nexus goes beyond chain abstraction. Together with Avail’s full stack, developers and users will experience true multichain scalability. That means liquidity, execution, and user access unified at scale across multiple layers of the blockchain ecosystem.

The integration of Arcana into Avail supercharges development across DeFi, stablecoin adoption, RWAs, and tokenization. Anyone can now build and launch scalable, multichain apps faster on top of the Avail Stack, unlocking real economic growth.

For our community, this is not an ending, it’s an evolution. Arcana’s DNA, its technology, and its mission will live on inside Nexus. And with Avail’s resources, scale, and momentum, we can take that mission further than ever before.

From $XAR to $AVAIL

As part of the acquisition, the Avail Foundation has acquired 100% of the $XAR supply. All $XAR holders will be able to swap their tokens for $AVAIL at a 4:1 ratio. Distribution will unlock in two phases: 50% of tokens will unlock six months from today’s announcement, and the remaining 50% after twelve months. In addition, investors will receive staking rewards for the locked period, calculated on a pro-rata basis for the duration their tokens remain locked (up to 12 months). These rewards will be airdropped directly to all eligible wallets. For the Arcana team, tokens will vest over three years to ensure long-term alignment with the Avail mission.

This token swap marks more than just an exchange; it’s the evolution of $XAR into $AVAIL. While $XAR has represented Arcana’s journey until now, $AVAIL will carry that mission forward, acting as the coordination mechanism of the multichain environment. Beyond securing the network, $AVAIL aligns liquidity, execution, and access across chains. In other words, this transition represents the foundation of a new crypto-economic model and an early entry into what’s coming next.
